Traveling out of Pakistan has become more difficult for young travelers due to the intensified checking at airports to curb human trafficking. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has directed the immigration officers to scrutinize the first-time travelers between the ages of 15 and 40 especially to destinations that have been identified as transit points for illegal smuggling such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and several others.
These places are mainly transitory ones for the trafficking network as evident from travel data which are being reviewed. Nine major cities are being scrutinized through this procedure with greater attention given to people traveling from places such as Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and Gujranwala. The detailed interviews comprise verifying return tickets, bookings and stay at hotels before interrogating as in-depth as possible about financial arrangements and trip purposes.
These measures though strict are aimed at curbing human trafficking and ensuring safe travel reflecting the commitment of the FIA towards this pressing issue.
