After her father’s death, Zenith Irfan, a resident of Lahore, Pakistan took up his unfulfilled wish to have a motorcycle trip round the world. Determined to honour him, she embarked on the journey he never completed. Starting from the young age of 12, she started going on solo biking trips.
She soon started getting stardom on the regional and national stage and her journeys became a source of inspiration for other women. There was also a biopic made on her journey by a Pakistani filmmaker titled ‘Motorcycle Girl’.
“In 2013, when my brother bought his first motorcycle, he began giving me riding lessons. It was then I decided to embark on a motorcycle adventure journey after getting adequate training”, Zenith said.
She also stated that her mother was the driving force behind the motorcycle journey.
“We are a small family of three. And it was my mother’s idea that I took up the motorcycle journey in order to leave a legacy for my late father.”, she said.
Talking about her Father’s Dream:
Ms Irfan was going through family photographs when she said that her father was in the army. He couldn’t get enough time to fulfil his dreams.
But before she could proceed, there was a roadblock. “Although we are originally from Pakistan, we moved to Sharjah in the UAE in the 1960s. But when I was 12, we came back to Pak and settled in Lahore. When we first moved in, it was a culture shock”, she stated.
She went on to add, “Lahore is a more conservative city and I started to think twice about what I wore. I had some problems.”
