During a Press Briefing in Washington Vedant Patel the US State Department’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson Highlighted the importance of this Relationship.
Patel stated Pakistan Continues to be one of our most important Partners in the Region. He noted that the US and Pakistan share Extensive Cooperation Particularly in the Areas of Security and Trade. This Partnership has a Long History and the recent Declarations Suggest a Focus on Enhancing Collaboration between the two Nations.
In Response to a Question about Press Freedom Patel Emphasized the US Commitment to Promoting a Free Press and Supporting Democratic Values. He Stated that the US has been Clear with Countries around the World about the Essential Role that a Free Press Plays in Democracy Underscoring the importance of Regular Press Briefings to Maintain Transparency.
When asked about the recent Attack on a Sikh leader Patel refrained from Commenting, indicating that the US Law and Justice Department is Currently investigating the Matter. He noted that it wouldn’t be appropriate to Comment on an Ongoing investigation.
