UAE Envoy Dispels Visa Concerns for Pakistani Nationals

In a major diplomatic outreach, the UAE’s Consul General in Karachi, Dr. Remeithi, has responded to rising concerns about possible restrictions on visas for Pakistani citizens. Ending the media blackout on the recent reports, there was no doubt in the envoy’s declaration of the Emirate’s stand on supporting Pakistan. Remeithi said that the UAE government has clear directives to support Islamabad and argued that there have been no whispers of possible visa bans in media outlets anymore.

The UAE official was quite straightforward in offering assurance about visa limitations as a way of allaying people’s concerns. Remeithi came right out and said that positive outcomes on the order of tens of thousands of dollars are anticipated within the next one to two months, coupled with the continuation of bilateral relations. The consul general’s input comes in the backdrop of Pakistan’s Embassy flatly refuting previous media reports on a proposed visa ban during a UAE cabinet meeting hence showing a pro-active media management on their part.

Similar to comments made in August, Consul General Remeithi reminded expatriates of their best behavior especially while using electronic gadgets. This he said is so because social media activities create digital footprints that can affect visa statuses. The diplomat pointed out that even reposting or liking material on different platforms could have serious implications and thus stressed the importance of moderate and reasonable activity by Pakistanis in social networks.
