Sindh, China to Build Mini Truck Assemble Plant in Karachi
Sindh government has announced of a significant partnership with China to build a mini truck assembly facility in Karachi. This project is part of a wider program that will enhance local manufacturing, foster clean transport and improve Pakistan-China industrial collaboration.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that partners on this project will be Chinese investors, specifically Chery Holding, and Pedi Technology Company Limited. There is a new Super Mini Truck, just launched in Bozhou, China that will be assembled in Karachi.
In remarks at the product launch in China, Memon touted the Super Mini Truck as a potential “game-changer” for Pakistan’s logistics and transport needs. It is also ideal for urban and rural access. The eco-friendly truck is affordable and can be used as a small car conversion.
Memon added that the project will generate local jobs, promote component manufacturing and bring state-of-the-art technology to Pakistan. The assembly line will turn Karachi into a regional hub for automobile manufacturing. Memon also announced that charging stations for electric vehicles will be established throughout Sindh that will assist business groups and the public in making the switch to green transport. The Sindh government has offered total support for the project as well as infrastructure, regulation, and workforce training.
