Series against Zimbabwe best opportunity to test youngsters: Hafeez

Pakistan’s batsman Mohammad Hafeez has urged the team management to give youngsters a chance to play in the series against Zimbabwe and suggested playing Babar at number three in the Pakistan side.

He said the management should try a new opening pair in the upcoming series against Zimbabwe

I think in the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, we should try a new opening pair. It will help us evaluate the prospect of other opening batsmen in the domestic circuit. I believe Babar should come lower down the order, he was quoted as saying.

He further said that the team management should give a chance to youngsters in the series against Zimbabwe as a series like this offers the perfect opportunity to test your players and rest the seniors.

Zimbabwe is scheduled to visit Pakistan in the next month to play three one-day matches and three T-20s. The series has been split between Rawalpindi and Multan.

All of the ODIs will be played in Multan whereas the oneday matches will be played in Rawalpindi. Multan fans last witnessed an international match back in 2008 when BAngladesh played an ODI against Pakistan.

Pakistan won the match by seven wickets.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had announced that the Multan ground venue, along with several others in the country, would get a makeover to get them ready for future international matches and fixtures in the Pakistan Super League.

Multan Cricket Stadium, with a seating capacity of 30,000 is a multi-purpose stadium and is owned by the PCB. The stadium is located off Vehari Road, in the suburbs of Multan. It is the second largest cricket stadium in Pakistan after National Cricket Stadium, Karachi.

The ground is home to PSL franchise Multan Sultans.
