The Punjab government has launched a program to safeguard young school-going children from the vagaries of winter by providing warm wear. From 13th January 2021 onward, 21000 students studying in government schools of Lahore, Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah will be provided with winter clothes, such as sweaters, coats, shoes, and uniforms. This scheme is launched under the direction of the Chief Minister under the supervision of the Department of Bait-ul-Mal & Social Welfare Department for students during bad weather.
Distribution Details and Target Areas
The program seeks to support students in selected government schools. The indicators used to choose beneficiary schools have been determined. Uniforms and appropriate shoes, socks, gloves, scarves, and hats will be availed so that the students are properly dressed for the winter. This endeavor emphasizes that the government is focused on affording education given environmental concerns and guaranteeing the students’ warmth and comfort at school throughout their regular schedule.
Revised Winter Vacation Schedule
The Punjab Education Department has released the new winter break notice and students will now remain free until January 10. Schools will be opening on January 13 after the weekends. Earlier, winter holidays were provided from December 20 to January 10, which was 22 days altogether. This change in the timetable simplifies the periodization of all institutions, provides sufficient time for rest and recovery to learners and teachers, and correlates with the new initiative.
