This time, popular (Punjabi) actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is paired up with Hania Aamir, the Pakistani sweetheart who is making her first Bollywood Punjabi movie. The horror-comedy is sure to be full of laughs, drama, and desi supernatural mayhem! Fans have expressed their excitement to see this new cross-border collaboration on screen!
Almost immediately after Diljit shared the trailer on Instagram, trolls and critics took to social media to label him as “insensitive” and “shameless” for including a Pakistani actor while political tensions still exist and preventing outcomes from being affected against other nations. The backlash quickly ran deep, with some cyber residents citing that he is completely disregarding the feelings of Indian audiences.
Fans are not on the same page about Hania Aamir
The trailer may have had a lot of love from many fans who thought the film’s visuals were vibrant and Diljit has no bad charm, but the casting of Hania Aamir became the main topic of discourse online. Some netizens were enraged, letting it all out in the comments section of the trailer, with some explaining Indian actors face serious scrutiny, yet Pakistani actors find no issue while casually being promoted in big Indian films. One user commented, “Our soldiers are dying on the border, and he is promoting a Pakistani actress?”

To date, Diljit hasn’t given an official statement regarding the backlash. The trailer continues to get views and has been trending on YouTube; however, the backlash was an unintended turn of events for the movie’s marketing.
