Pakistan Sees Record $4.1 Billion in Monthly Remittances
Media reports said that remittances to Pakistan stood at $4.1 billion in March 2025, the highest ever monthly inflow recorded. Such a surge leads to a 37.3% rise in remittances compared to March 2024 and nearly 30% higher than in February 2025.
Seasonal Giving during Ramadan, Eid, and Stronger Economies Address Growth
Experts say the rise occurred due to seasonal giving during Ramadan and Eid, and increasing economic conditions in countries where overseas Pakistanis live and work.
PM Shehbaz Thanks Overseas Pakistanis
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked overseas Pakistanis for their trust, saying total remittances for the July-March period of FY25 stand at $28 billion, an increase of 33.2% over the same period last year.
Major Contributors
The major sources of remittances in March were:
- From the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, $987.3M
- From the United Arab Emirates, $842.1M
- From the United Kingdom $683.9M
- From the United States, $419.5M
These four countries managed to contribute 72% of total identity inflows, with especially good growth from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Europe, Australia, and Malaysia Also Help with Some
In Europe, $426.7M was transferred; mainly supported by Germany and Italy. Australia registered a growth of 43% and Malaysia 10%.
