The Punjab government has officially Declared the Celebration of Baisakhi as a significant event. Baisakhi which is a traditional festival and is greatly celebrated by sikh brothers. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif Conveyed her hearty Greetings on this occasion. It shows the Baisakhi’s importance in Punjab’s Rich culture and how Pakistan supports other religious festivals.
Maryam Nawaz thinks that Baisakhi brings joy, happiness and unity among people. Maryam Nawaz extended her Congratulations to everyone Celebrating. The Chief Minister warmly welcomed Sikh brothers and sisters joining the festivities in Punjab, expressing her identity as Pakistani first and then Punjabi. She highlighted how Punjab welcomes everyone to celebrate Baisakhi together, sharing happiness with each person.
Around 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India have crossed the Wagah border into Pakistan to partake in the annual Baisakhi Mela festivities. They were greeted by the Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, with plans to attend the main event at Hasan Abdal.
The pilgrims will also visit Sikh religious sites like Nankana Sahib and Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur and pay their respects During their visit, The culmination of their journey will be at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on April 21, before returning to India via Wagah on April 22.

Baisakhi holds special significance. Baisakhi is also called the Punjabi New Year. This marked the beginning of the Rabi season’s Harvest. During this time, farmers pray for a successful harvest and good fortune in general. Also, it marks the founding of the Khalsa community by the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, which makes it even more significant in Sikh tradition.
