PSB Distributes to Pakistan’s International Medal-Winning Athletes & Coaches
Islamabad witnessed a tremendous occasion as the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) acknowledged 26 outstanding athletes and their hardworking coaches to have snagged medals and returned to Pakistan victorious in several international sporting competitions. The presentation ceremony was finalized on Friday in a local hotel with the significant presence and participation of the Adviser to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah who was the chief guest.
Rana Sanaullah mentioned as he opened the awards ceremony, that at a time when the government is increasing cash awards, it will impact even more young aspiring athletes who will double their efforts to represent Pakistan.
For the awarding of medals, the athletes competed in the sports of squash and taekwondo at multiple major events. Anas Ali Shah, Abdullah Nawaz, Sakhiuallah Tareen, and Noman received Rs 375,000 each for their contribution to team medals as the bronze medalists at the Asian Junior Squash Team Championship held in Hong Kong. The coaches and assistant coaches of the instead were also awarded cash prizes. Record-breaking athlete, Noor Zaman who is the World U23 Individual Squash Champion received a whopping Rs 5.0 million, and his coach, and support staff along with the other medalists received Rs 833,333 each. Gold medal victor Haroon Khan earned Rs 2 million, the silver medalists earned Rs 1 million each and the bronze medalists earned Rs 500,000 each. The coaches who put in endless hours of hard work were also acknowledged.
