Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the sequel of highest Tamil grosser Ponniyin Selvan 1 which collected over 500 crores worldwide. The second sequel casting Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, and Trisha Krishnan is also going to be a huge hit of 2023.
The film crossed Thunivu on its forth day and Varisu in its second weekend, heading towards the total of Rs 400 crore and that is huge success for Tamil film industry.

The domestic collection of the film may seen a drop but its global gross is said to be over 100 crore. The production house of the film Lyca Production shared a tweet saying, “Conquering hearts and box office alike”.
When the first part was released in 2022, it got huge success as biggest ever opening of a Tamil film. The film is an adaptation of the novel named Kalki Krishnamurthy.
The Enthrian Franchise is currently the top franchise in India for Tamil movies but if Ponniyin Selvan 2 continues to hold a position than it will cross the biggest franchise. The numbers of part 2 are currently 20% low than the first part but are still very steady.

Day 3: Rs 33 crores
