Pakistan’s Asim Khan has just started his campaign at the London Open Squash Championship in a stunning triumph, defeating his opponent in three straight games on November 6. The scores of the match read: 11-9, 11-6, 11-15
Khan displayed strong form throughout the game on the first day of the tournament, maintaining adequate control and responding to his competitor’s tactics quickly. The championship carries a prize pool of $33,000 this year.
The Pakistani player gained control in the first couple of games quite comfortably. But he had to battle hard in the third round, eventually ruling the tough contest. His commanding performance hints in the direction of promising results throughout the London Open 2024.
Khan faces a tougher challenge at London Open today
Khan currently holds the 60th position in the professional squash association rankings. He is the highest-ranked Pakistani player in international squash rankings. During the recently opened London Open championship, he seeks to further improve his position.
Taking place until Sunday, the squash tournament celebrates its 17th edition in 2024. Tournament director Zubair Jahan Khan has been organising the event – a fixture on the squash calendar – since 2007, reported sportonspec.
