Pakistan will be hosting West Indies for two Tests under the WTC 2023-25 cycle of the International Cricket Council. The first Test is set to begin on January 17 at the Multan Cricket Stadium becoming the first test series in Pakistan by West Indies side in 18 years.
During this tournament, Pakistan is ranked eighth and West Indies ranked ninth in the WTC rankings. Though neither side is conceivably in the frame for WTC final qualification, plenty is at stake besides rankings.
The teams have been named and Pakistan has been given Shan Masood as their captain while Krigh Brathwaite leads West Indies. There will be a few changes as Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah will be out of Pakistan playing XI and on the other side West Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Amir Jangoo will be playing his first test match.
The series is also statistically important for our samples. Out of 54 Tests played so far, Pakistan has emerged victorious in 21, out of which 9 have been on its territory. There are some of the ongoing players that are thought to be likely to act as kingmakers which include; Babar Azam, Noman Ali, and Kemar Roach.
