pakistan-wants-peace-in-afghanistan-and-refugees-to-return-home
Pakistan’s special representative speaks of improving relations with Afghanistan. This is a report about the ambassador who represents Pakistan in the Afghanistan-Pakistan talks. He spoke at a meeting on Tuesday. The venue was a place called the Institute of Regional Studies. The function held there discussed how Pakistan and Afghanistan can work together better.
Repatriation of Afghan Refugees
He added that Pakistan wants Afghanistan to be peaceful and stable. This would make life better for the people there in Afghanistan. It also helped more than 3 million Afghan refugees living in Pakistan to go back to their own country.
He called on the international community, other nations, and the United Nations to plan for the repatriation of refugees back home and to ensure that they have homes to go to, jobs to do, and are safe when they return.
Terrorism Concerns
Durrani is concerned about the terrorists based in Afghanistan. These terrorists bother not only Pakistan but also other neighbouring states including China, Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. He called upon the present rulers in Afghanistan to take serious measures against such terrorist elements.
Good News About Halt of Drug Production
On the brighter side, said Durrani, the present Afghan leadership is sincerely putting in every effort to prevent people from growing poppy plants, used for drugs. The world has come to realize this good work.
Easy Trade and New Projects
He believes that Pakistan and Afghanistan have to make trade with each other much easier. He would also hasten big projects that physically link countries in the region: a gas pipeline that would pass through Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, and a power line bringing electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan.
Stop Smuggling
He asked the government of Pakistan to continue making efforts for the prevention of smuggling of goods brought from Afghanistan into Pakistan by people illegally.
