Pakistan knocked out of Asian Champions Trophy by team India

The Indian national team put Pakistan out of the Asian Champions Trophy with a 4-0 win in the final round of the league game on Wednesday. 

Harmanpreet Singh, a famous hockey player from India who plays as a defender for the Indian national team, played a crucial role in the win. He converted two penalty corners. Harmanpreet Singh, who is also a captain of the national team, scored twice. With this, the Indian team went into the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy.

Jugraj Singh also helped team India during the match at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. Akashdeep Singh, an Indian professional field hockey player who plays as a forward for the India hockey team, also scored India’s goals.

With Wednesday’s win, the Indian national team finished at the top of the Asian Champions Trophy 2023 points table. 

However, team Pakistan suffered a loss. Pakistan crashed out of the tournament because of the goal difference. The team dropped out of the top four despite finishing on equal five points with South Korea and Japan.

South Korea also qualified for the semi-finals despite a 1-0 loss to Malaysia in the Asian Champions Trophy. Kim Jaehyeon helped Korea during the match. Jaehyeon’s saves ensured that the scoreline remained 1-0. Team Malaysia’s last round match edged the Republic of Korea 1-0.

Japan also defeated China 2-1 in the round-robin stage. Shota Yamada and Kentaro Fukuda from Japan were in the limelight. They gave Japan its first win of the tournament.

The Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2023 is taking place at the iconic Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium. The tournament is an apex gathering of hockey prowess in the Asian continent.

India is in Pool A with Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Singapore and Uzbekistan. Korea, Malaysia, the People’s Republic of China, Oman, Thailand and Indonesia are in Pool B.
