pakistan introduces european‑style business train
Lahore-Karachi Train Now Operating With Modern European Sobriety
Pakistan has announced a new and improved passenger train Pak Business Express that is intended to provide choice to customers with a more comfortable and contemporary travel experience between Lahore and Karachi. The service was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday, July 30, at Lahore Railway Station. The revamped train claims to get from Lahore to Karachi in 18.5 hours, has air-conditioned coaches, digital ticketing, modern lounges, and embraces European-style amenities for business-class customers. The upgrades are intended to increase public trust in Pakistan Railways, which has experienced backlash for inadequate and outdated facilities and services.
During the event, the Prime Minister praised and congratulated Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi for regaining vitality in a “collapsed” system. He also noted Khawaja Saad Rafique’s efforts during the previous PDM government in upgrading main railway stations and reclaiming valuable railway land.
The launch is part of a large-scale effort for government service modernization and national infrastructure improvement. PM Shehbaz mentioned ongoing dialogues/talks with China regarding CPEC Phase II, and a beneficial improvement in diplomatic relations with the United States.
The upgraded Pak Business Express will add a major component vital to expanding a modern railway system in Pakistan.
