Set to run from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026, the three-year central contract deal the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) this month exposed on reference to its top players. 25 cricketers in all have been granted central contracts split into four categories, each with significant monthly retainers increase. The overall monthly pay will include income from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Salary Increases and Monthly Retainers

The PCB has announced significant percentage increases in salaries across all categories:

  • Category A: 202% increase, with each player receiving Rs6 million per month.
  • Category B: 144% increase, with players earning up to Rs3 million per month.
  • Category C: 135% increase, with players receiving Rs1.75 million per month.
  • Category D: 127% increase, with players earning Rs1.13 million per month.

Category B Highlight: Remuneration of Naseem Shah

Rising star on Pakistan’s cricket squad, Naseem Shah fits into Category B and gets up to Rs3 million a month. In this group he is joined by other well-known players as Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, and Mohammad Nawaz.

Overall Income and Additional Income

Particularly those playing internationally or in major competitions like the PSL, IPL, or Big Bash, cricketers all around—including those from Pakistan—earn significant salaries. Match fees, central contracts, sponsorships, and endorsements bring them revenue at the height of their careers.

Apart from their regular pay, players get fixed match fees and match rewards for all three formats, therefore augmenting their whole income.

Updated Monthly Salary Details

The PCB has responded to growing concerns over the Pakistan Cricket Team by publishing the revised monthly pay information for the national team players, highlighting notable increases in every category.

  • Category A: Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan each earn a monthly salary of Rs6 million.
  • Category B: Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Imam-ul-Haq, and Mohammad Nawaz each earn up to Rs3 million per month.

Category C and D: Monthly salaries range from Rs750,000 to Rs1.75 million, with players like Imad Wasim in Category C and Iftikhar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, and Saim Ayub in Category D.
