27 Pakistani YouTube Channels Ordered to Be Blocked

In landmark developments, local court in Islamabad has ordered to block 27 popular YOUTUBE channels which included those run by prominent journalists and media person.The request was made to block the 27 channels on behalf of the FIA  for the publication of alleged anti-state content.

Court Grants FIA’s Request on National Security Grounds

The application was made by the FIA and DVB, and the case was managed by Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah. The court heard the application on a review of the FIA request and some documentation/advice filed as evidence collected from an inquiry started on June 2. The evidence was submitted to the court, and the court made its decision to grant the agency’s application, as well as the immediate need for YouTube to remove the channels identified. The decision recorded in what appeared to be an uploaded government report with has a duration with the court, stated that the satisfaction of all evidence supplied to the court was satisfactory after the review, the Court made its decision and stated that the content presented was a national interest and like the content presented that posited if anything could be biased and a potential threat to national interest and so therefore according to legal advice to proceed was reasonable and arguable.
