Pakistan government to unveil Economic Survey: Know important details here
Pakistan is preparing to announce its federal budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year on Tuesday, June 10. The budget, a staggering Rs17.6 trillion, is likely to outline where the country’s finances will be directed in the coming year – and comes at the right time. Caretaker Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget to the National Assembly. There is likely to be a focus on improving revenue, limiting unnecessary spending, and meeting IMF targets for a new loan.
What is for citizens?
Sources say the government is planning to introduce new taxes – on both retailers and agriculture – to improve collections. Salaried people might feel a little squeeze too. However, officials say development projects in areas such as roads, schools, and health will continue to receive attention.
The budget includes a Public Sector Development Programme worth Rs1.4 trillion that aims to keep key areas of infrastructure projects on track.
IMF Watch and the Economy
The budget is also important because far as we have seen from the previous administration is that Pakistan wishes to secure another loan from the International Monetary Fund So, the government must appear to be serious about reform, tax collections and ultimately lowering the budget deficit.
All eyes are on tomorrow’s session. Relief or burden, whatever the presentation brings will direct the nation’s resources and build the bedrock of its living over the next year.
