“I love you, dear”, Michelle Obama responded.
The loving exchange comes amid swirling social media rumours of a rift between the Obamas. Speculation began when reports emerged that Michelle would not accompany Barack to key events, including the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter earlier this month.
This was the second time in recent weeks that Michelle had skipped a public event involving Trump. She also did not accompany Barack Obama to the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter earlier in January, citing a scheduling conflict and choosing to remain in Hawaii on an extended holiday vacation.
