New Zealand to Host Pakistan for a Cricket Tour in 2025…

New Zealand Cricket today July 17th 2024 confirmed about the full schedule for their 2024-25 home season. New Zealand is set to host England for two test series, and Sri Lanka for three T20s, and ODIs. After that the Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan and then New Zealand is to serve as hosts to Pakistan as they welcome Pak for 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs.

While the 5 T20Is would be held in March 2025, the ODIs are set to begin in the first week of the next month, that is April. The dates of the Pak Tour of New Zealand would clash with the Indian Premier League giving quite a blow for the IPL teams respectively who have Kiwi players in their squads as they would be playing for their national team.

The BCCI would be confirming with the players putting their name in the auction list as to whether they would be available for the whole IPL season. Previously, this year, Pakistan toured the Kiwi Nation for a set of five T20Is in April 2024 and star batter and former captain Kane Williamson was partly absent along with players like fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult, Left hand batter Rachin Ravindra, Darryl Mitchell, and others.

New Zealand ODI Captain to be Decided;

New Zealand Cricket Board is yet to announce the side’s ODI captain in limited overs format as former captain Kane Wiliamson took an exit from the leadership role after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The blackcaps were expected to be led by Wicket Keeper and top order batsman Tom Latham but now head coach Gary Stead has said he is an option among others in the team. In his words, “We are not in a stage of confirming it yet, so I don’t want to speculate whether Tom will be or not”.

However Latham in his statement said, “It would obviously be a real honour. For me, it’s always to put the team first as best as possible, and I am sure they will have those discussions from a team point of view. Certainly if I get the opportunity to do that, it would be really special”.
