The judge who was hearing a big money case against Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, and his wife Bushra Bibi, has been changed. The case is about 190 million pounds, many pretty pennies.
Who is the New Judge?
A new judge, Nasir Javed Rana, has been selected to preside over the case. He is going to preside over Accountability Court No 1. The said court is a special one that deals with cases of money and power misuse.
What Happened to the Old Judge?
This case was being heard in Adiala Jail before this change by Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich. He was working in Accountability Court No 2. Now, he will also take care of Accountability Court No 1 for some time.
More Changes in Courts
Another new judge, Abida Sajjad, has been chosen to serve in Accountability Court No 3. She is also of a high rank of a judge- Grade 20.
Official Announcement
The Ministry of Law, responsible for court affairs, issued an official notification regarding these new judges. This means these changes are now official and will come into effect shortly.
How Were These Judges Chosen?
Some big judge, the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court himself, had recommended the names of some judges against these vacant posts. From these suggestions, the final choices were made.
This transfer of judges is quite important because Imran Khan is a very popular political figure in Pakistan. The case related to 190 million pounds is huge, and lots of people are watching what happens. Having a new judge might change the way the case will go forward.
