Renowned Pakistani Pashto Comedian Mirawas Passes Away
After a long illness, legendary comedian of Pashto Mirawas dies. Mardan, the hospital dies on Thursday, with Mirawas, whose real name was Hayat Khan, one of the most celebrated Pashto comedians and entertainers, succumbing to serious health troubles. The last breath was taken in Mardan Medical Complex.
Mirawas was born in 1955 in Tehsil Tangi, Charsadda district. He was much more than just a comedian. If we take an in-depth analysis of all his hidden qualities, then he was a talented singer, poet, stage performer bringing joy and laughter to millions of Pashto-speaking audiences.
He had an early love for comedy. During his school days, students from other schools used to come to his school to watch him perform. Over the years, he became a household name and spent the rest of his life starring in radio shows, TV programs, and stage dramas. He recorded above 500 cassettes and produced more than 800 Pashto comedy albums. Today everyone recognizes him for his very witty humor, coupled with an outstanding style.
This he did in 2018, releasing his second book, Gup da Mirawas, replete with witty parody of famous Pashto and Urdu songs, besides amusing poems and satire. Unfortunately for Mirawas, he was fated to see a slow decline in health towards the end of his life. His ailments included diabetes and high blood pressure that led to him having one leg cut off, with doctors being careful about the other one.
Governor Pays Tribute to Mirawas Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi grieved over the demise of Mirawas. In a very emotional message, he said that a loss of this caliber would signal the end of an era in Pashto comedy.
