In a recent incident in Dera Ismail Khan, suspected militants launched an attack on a police station, but security personnel successfully repelled the assault.
This incident is part of a series of attacks in the district over the past few days, causing injury to a police constable. The target of the militants in this case was the Gul Imam police station located in Tank.
In this attack, armed militants enter the police station which leads to a firefight between the police officers and the attackers. The militants eventually retreated from the scene.
During the exchange of gunfire, Police Constable Waheed Gul sustained injuries and was quickly rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Tank for medical attention.
The District Police Officer Tank, Iftikhar Ali Shah, promptly arrived at the scene accompanied by a substantial police force. They start a search operation in the area to locate and apprehend the suspects responsible for the attack.
Another unfortunate incident occurred when a terrorist attack on a checkpost in the Roori area of the Kulachi tehsil resulted in injuries to another policeman on Sunday evening. The attackers utilized both small and heavy weapons and successfully escaped after the scene.
Several police units from Kulachi and Daraban rapidly responded to the situation. Last Friday, a tragic event took place when a blast targeted a police van in the Tank Adda area, leading to the loss of six lives and injuries to more than 30 people, including two policemen. The attack involved a remote-controlled blast using explosives hidden in a motorcycle.
Another incident occurred in the Takwara area of Kulachi on the same Friday, where a blast near a police and army convoy resulted in the martyrdom of a security officer.

These events are scary and increase the tension of the ongoing challenge of terrorism in Pakistan, Mostly in areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. A report from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) revealed that security forces lost a significant number of personnel in the first nine months of 2023 due to terrorism, marking an eight-year high.
