Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has signed a new MoU with Peking University Law School. The signing has been made in association with the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS), to enhance the educational /research link between Pakistan and China. This innovative model opens opportunities for the exchange of students and teachers, research cooperation and projects, and exchange and collaboration between the two institutions on an interfaculty level both at the postgraduate level within law and diplomacy.

The partnership provides a broad structure to student and faculty exchanges that enable the participants to have an exclusive opportunity to understand the legal and policy-making cultures of the two nations, Pakistan and China. Through short-term visitor programs, scholars and students will be able to work directly with members of the host country and broaden their visions. The partnership aims to promote stronger research cooperation on important legal and policy questions and the areas of emphasis include investment and trade, law, and new forms of dispute settlement.

The emphasis in the memorandum of understanding is on convening seminars, conferences, and workshops that will be effective fora for legal scholars, professionals, and students. These events will help in creating awareness about new issues, sharing ideas, and focusing more on the challenges or the CPEC and BRI. Through cooperation in solving the legal and policy issues arising from these revolutionary infrastructural projects, the partnership will foster advanced academic research and enhance mutual understanding between the two countries.
