Pakistan International Film Festival 2025 begins in Karachi

The Pakistan International Film Festival 2025 has officially begun in Karachi as of June 19 and is a combination of a local and international film festival. This festival is organized by the Karachi Film Society, aims to showcase storytelling from around the world and demonstrate the development of Pakistan’s film industry. In the 2025 festival, there are over 110 films from 26 countries, including Iran, the UK, the USA, Singapore, and, of course, Pakistan. Films will include short films, documentaries, and full-length features that will include dialogue about individual experiences and journeys, social issues, and artistic visions.

The PIFF festival excels in offering a vantage point for emerging and independent filmmakers to enter the industry as well as an opportunity for audiences and industry professionals to connect. The festival is also an effort to get the film community in Pakistan back to being inspired to create films and connect to discuss their work.

There is a special session planned, Women in Film, to encourage discussion about the place of women in the film world in terms of equality. This discussion will provide space for the achievements of female filmmakers to be highlighted, as well as speak about the challenges.
