The fact that Islamabad Safest City is set to rank among the world’s safest in 2025 is more than just a headline, but it also speaks volumes about Pakistan’s capital changing the perception of the world. With a score of 93/380 in Safety Index (Numbeo), the city has outdone several other world metropolitan cities, strengthening its status as Islamabad’s safest city not only to its inhabitants, but to visitors as well. This appreciation is based on objective improvement as opposed to perception.
The relaxed city planning, the low traffic, and relatively low levels of street crime have always made the city unique. However, with the recent advancement in law enforcement and population, Islamabad has moved higher on the safety rankings of the global rankings, increasing its status as the safest city in South Asia.
Why is Islamabad on a Safety Surge?
Another significant decrease in crime rates between 2024 and 2025, along with the selective policing reforms, has taken centre stage. Surveillance, which has been made with technology, visible patrol and community interaction, has minimised the occurrence coupled with better response time. The fact that it is internationally validated, even with UN family-station status, is an added credibility factor.
To investors, families, as well as foreign Pakistanis, this trend is an indication of stability in the long term. Islamabad is no longer merely the political capital; it is being perceived as the city of Islamabad’s safest streets, a place where one can live, yet with the norms of livability and the world standards of urban security.
