On this International Day of Tolerance, we reflect on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a great example of a country that embodies tolerance and inclusivity. The UAE, known as the ‘home of all’, has become a welcoming centre for diverse communities, especially the large Pakistani community that has found a second home within its borders.

A Second Home for Pakistanis

Home to a vibrant Pakistani community, the UAE is home to more than 1.6 million Pakistanis residing in the country. Such a large population demonstrates the welcoming environment that the UAE offers. The coexistence of different cultures and nationalities fosters a sense of belonging for many Pakistani nationals, making them feel at home while living abroad.

Investment and Business Opportunities

The United Arab Emirates is a favoured location for Pakistani investors and businessmen. Due to its strategic geographical location, strong infrastructure and favourable business climate, the UAE offers many opportunities in various sectors. Major initiatives such as UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan encourage foreign investment and entrepreneurship, allowing Pakistani businesses to thrive. This commitment by the UAE to innovation and economic diversification creates an ideal environment for Pakistani investors looking to expand their ventures.

Employment Centre for Pakistanis

Beyond job opportunities, the UAE has established itself as an employment centre for Pakistani nationals. There is a growing demand for skilled and professional jobs in sectors such as healthcare, engineering, IT, and finance. The labour market in the UAE is open and inclusive, providing many job opportunities for Pakistanis looking to advance their careers while contributing to the country’s economy.

Shared Islamic Values

UAE’s respect for Islamic traditions resonates deeply with Pakistani culture, fostering a sense of community and shared values among residents. The nation’s emphasis on tolerance and coexistence is in line with the principles of Islam, making it a favourable environment for Pakistani families.

Education

Knowing the importance of education and community support, the UAE has implemented several programmes and facilities that cater to the needs of Pakistani families. Many organisations offer curricula that are in line with Pakistani standards, ensuring that children receive a quality education while maintaining their cultural identity.

As we celebrate the International Day for Tolerance, it is imperative that we recognise the UAE’s role as a Beacon of Tolerance.

With its commitment to inclusivity, respect for diverse cultures and support for its population, the UAE has created an environment in which the Pakistani community – along with many others – can prosper.
