A large number of functions held in Pashtuns province KPK, International Mother Tongue day was also celebrated in Peshawar and other cities of KPK by Qoumi Watan Party (QWP). The day is a dedication to all the mother tongue languages spoken and it will promote mother tongues.
Qoumi Watan Party arranged a function in Watan Qor, Headquarters of the party where a large number of scholars and literary people showed up to share their views on importance of mother tongue and ideas to promote mother tongue languages.

Provincial chairman of Qoumi Watan Party also spoke on the occasion, saying that it is important to get education on mother tongue languages and government should take steps for promotion of mother tongue languages spoken in the province and in whole Pakistan. He added that awareness among people about mother tongue is very necessary field to work on.
Efforts to promote Mother Tongue Languages
Many Pashto scholar, literary people QWP leader Hasham Babar, Fayyaz Ali Shah, Dr Farooq Afzal attended the event. Chairman Qoumi Watan Party added that our party will make sure all the efforts to promote mother tongue for pashtu as well as all the native languages spoken in KPK. He added that nations who respect and promote their native languages excel in every field of life.
Sikander Sherpao further said that government should take steps in providing education in mother tongue languages. It is also the huge responsibility for scholars and educators to create awareness in this remark. A group of social activists also gathered at Peshawar Press Club to work for promotion of languages spoken in the province.

A rally was also taken out from Bab e Khyber to Jaamrud Press Club, political activists, civil society members and Adabi people participated in the rally. Mother Tongue Day was celebrated in all other parts of the province. They all demanded government to take step in saving and promoting native languages in provinces.
