india strikes terrorists in pakistan following rising tensions
Indian forces conducted targeted missile strikes against terrorist facilities located in both Pakistan and the Pakistan-administered areas of Kashmir. Operation Sindoor executed 24 missile strikes against nine targets identified by Indian security forces as terrorist strongholds.
Defense officials in India declare the operation killed 70 militants while 60 fighters were left injured. Pakistan denies these allegations by insisting the missile strikes injured 26 civilians while hitting both civilian facilities, including religious buildings.
Officials from Pakistan announced prompt action after they shot down five jets from India’s Air Force and a drone, according to their statements, although India has not validated these claims. The Head of India’s foreign diplomatic delegation received a summons from Pakistan regarding so-called “unprovoked” assaults that threaten the future stability of the region.
People living near the impacted locations took refuge inside their houses after discovering shells had started targeting their neighborhood. Shawai resident Raja Shahid Bashir explained that the area lost power when “all of a sudden the electricity went out” followed by “shells landed close to our home.”
A team from the United Nations visited Muzaffarabad to assess the damage at a mosque which Pakistan states was struck. Recent times have seen this conflict between nuclear powers become the most dangerous encounter since the nuclear-armed neighbors clashed.
