In March 2024, Pakistan is gearing up for important Senate and presidential elections. citing reliable sources from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The Senate elections are set to take place in the first or second week of March, with the specific date expected to be before March 10. The ECP is in the process of finalizing the schedule, which will be issued soon, pending approval from the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and ECP members.

Notably, 52 Senators are set to retire on March 11 after completing their six-year term, adding significance to the upcoming elections.

On February 21, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) jointly announced Asif Ali Zardari as their candidate for the presidential elections. In a joint press conference held at Zardari House in Islamabad, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed that PML-N’s president, Shehbaz Sharif, is expected to become the country’s prime minister once again.
