Helmet Made Mandatory for Motorcyclists on Three Major Karachi Roads

As reported by ARY News traffic officials in Karachi are now enforcing wearing a helmet as a law on selected city roads to decrease motorcycle crashes. According to DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah the traffic department will stop motorcyclists who ride without helmets from entering Metropole to Clifton Bridge, PIDC to the Saudi Consulate, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.

The authorities will block entry to motorcyclists without helmets on these three traffic arteries. The Traffic Department is creating these three roads as pilot sections to start with. He explained the initiative exists to lower motorcycle accident rates and protect motorcyclists’ well-being. The new rule emerged because motorcycle crashes resulted in many injured and deceased riders in Karachi.

Three Major Karachi Roads:

  • Metropole to Clifton Bridge
  • PIDC to Saudi Consulate
  • Shahrah-e-Faisal

Authorities will organize Ramadan educational sessions about the need for motorcycle helmets because it helps them promote safety standards among riders effectively. Following Ramadan, the authorities will enforce penalties with large fines imposed on motorcyclists who ride without helmets. The authorities work hard to maintain road safety through all traffic rules alongside this new approach.

Karachi traffic police will add advanced locking devices that block motorcycle owners from taking their vehicles unless they wear helmets. DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah indicated that the system would work by providing each section officer with 50 modern locks. Motorcycle riders must show a helmet at the installed padlocks to open their bike parking areas. This updated system works to build trust in safety among riders and motorcyclists in Pakistan.

The traffic police of Karachi want their efforts to create a better future for road safety and minimize motorcycle accidents in the city.
