Hafeez Criticizes Pakistan’s 90s Cricket Team, Waqar Responds

Former Pakistani Famous cricketer Muhammad Hafeez recently made strong comments about Pakistan’s cricket team from the 1990s. He said that in spite of having some of the talented players, they failed to win major and important  ICC trophies. His words caused a reaction, especially from Waqar Younis, who defended his generation with our words.

What Did Muhammad Hafeez Say?

Muhammad Hafeez a talented cricketer, who has played international cricket for many years, believes that Pakistan’s 90s team had big names like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Saeed Anwar, $ Inzamam-ul-Haq, but they did not win as much as they should have. He further said that after the 1992 World Cup major victory, Pakistan had many chances to win but could not win another ICC trophy for a long time, this is very indigestible for the cricket lovers in Pakistan and all over the world.

Muhammad Hafeez also suggested that some players focused too much on personal records rather than playing as a Pakistani team. Muhaamad Hafeez believes that if they had worked better together, Pakistan could have dominated world cricket in that era.

Waqar Younis’ Reply To Muhammad Hafeez

Waqar Younis, one of Pakistan’s greatest and explosive fast bowlers, did not stay quiet. He took to social media & posted a picture with Wasim Akram, reminding people of their achievements. His caption said: “90s Ka Londa” (Boy from the 90s), showing that he was proud of what they had done for the Pakistani cricket team.

Waqar Younis also said and pointed out that the cricket world was different back then. There were less ICC tournaments, and teams had fewer opportunities to win trophies in matches as compared to today. He said that in spite of the challenges, the 90s team played well-known and excellent cricket & made Pakistan a strong team.

Different Opinions on the Debate

Not everyone agrees with Muhammad Hafeez. Many fans and former cricketers defended the 90s team, saying they played under critical conditions and still performed well and good. However, Rashid Latif, another former player, agreed with Hafeez. He even said that some players were distracted by things outside the cricket, which affected their performance.
