Green Pakistan Initiative Kicks Off with Smart Farms, Research Centre and Service Company

The Green Pakistan Initiative was formally launched at Cholistan, promising a revolution in the agriculture sector with far-reaching aid to farmers. Present at the ceremony were Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Musadik Malik.

The features of Green Pakistan includes Green Agri Malls, Smart Agri Farm and Agricultural Research and Facility Centre which would enable farmers affordable access to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural machinery, etc and also in particular, drones. The Smart Agri Farm is to cover 5,000 acres with new sustainable techniques to improve crop yields.

There is a further focus on agricultural outcomes such as soil testing and education services. Maryam Nawaz said that this begins an agricultural revolution in Punjab. 

It is expected that 250 Green Agri Malls will be established across the country by the end of the year. Its aims are to revolutionize the agricultural landscape of Pakistan.
