Caretaker Interior Minister Dr. Gohar Ejaz Hinted at the Possibility of Suspending internet Services on February 8, Contingent upon Requests from districts or Provinces due to Security Concerns. During a Press Conference alongside Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad Ejaz Clarified that no Definitive Decision has been reached Regarding internet Suspension thus far.
The Caretaker Government’s Stance Comes amid Earlier Speculations regarding Potential internet Shutdowns on Election Day. While Caretaker Information Minister Solangi affirmed that local administrations retain the Authority to impose internet Shutdowns based on law and Order assessments, he Underscored that no such Necessity has Arisen thus far.
In a Parallel Development, Caretaker Balochistan Information Minister Jan Achakzai announced Temporary Restrictions on internet Services in Sensitive Polling booths across the Province during the upcoming Elections.
