Karachi and Rawalpindi city’s population is heading to face substantial shortages in the gas supplies caused by Infrastructure projects and harshest winter. The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has declared that for shifting its pipeline in some parts of Karachi for the BRT project, the supply of gas will remain shut off for some time.
According to SSGC’s statement, gas supply will be suspended from 10:00 PM on December 14 to 6:00 AM on December 15 near Peoples Chowrangi. It is planned that such vital healthcare and medical facilities as Agha Khan Hospital, Liaquat National Hospital, and Saylani Welfare Trust will also be impacted. On the other hand, Rawalpindi is facing a longer gas crunch with interruptions experienced in 70 percent of the city’s areas, mainly because of low temperatures.
The gas crisis has caused the whole life of Rawalpindi to stand still as residents of a different area like Chaklala Scheme III, Gulistan Colony, and Rawalpindi Cantonment are unable to cook their food. Tandoors have shut down, people cannot feed their children breakfast – the problems, that communities experienced in this winter season.
