Former UC Chairman Assassinated in Karachi Mosque Shooting

A former UC chairman and candidate in the recent local government election, Amanullah Afridi, 65, was shot dead in Karachi’s Baldia Town on Tuesday morning. The attack happened close to the Baldia No.7 when Afridi was coming out of a mosque after he had prayed Fajr and thus the attack demonstrated a high level of loss .

According to police sources Afridi, a candidate from UC-5 Abidabad in the recent local government elections, was targeted by unidentified gunmen. A crime scene unit has been deployed to investigate the murder and the police is still conducting an investigation on the incident.

This acts as the second recent murder in Karachi, where Fazal Zaman was killed in mysterious circumstances in the North Nazimabad area. SSP Zeeshan Shafiq said documents seized from the possession of the accused, Zaman, including Sindh Building Control Authority letter, points towards personal rivalry as a possible cause.
