Fawad Khan & Vaani Kapoor Shine in Abir Gulaal Teaser
Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan will soon mark his return to Bollywood with Vaani Kapoor as his opposite star in the upcoming romantic film Abir Gulaal.
The official announcement of the film was made last year, and on April 1, the makers released a teaser for fans to satisfy their curiosity about the movie.
However, Abir Gulaal has already gathered much buzz, especially among the fans of Fawad who are waiting to watch him on the big screen again. The movie is slated to be released on 9 May. The teaser shows Fawad and Vaani enjoying a car ride while listening to the popular old Bollywood song “Kuch Na Kaho” from the film 1942: A Love Story.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Vaani Kapoor wrote, “The wait gets over! Bringing love back to the big screen with Abir Gulaal and @fawadkhan81. A Richer Lens film @aricherlens. See you in cinemas on 9th May!” She ended her post with a magic and heart emoji, adding more joy.
But controversy has already begun brewing regarding the film. Abir Gulaal will mark Fawad Khan’s first Bollywood return since Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016. Contrary to this, his return is opposed by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), a regional political party led by Raj Thackeray in Mumbai.
On the announcement of the date of the film’s release, MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar released a strong statement that warned the party would not allow the film to release in Maharashtra.
“The film Abir Gulaal will not be allowed to release in India, period. Those who wish to support Pakistani artists can do so, but remember, you are up against us,” Khopkar posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Fawad Khan has not acted in Bollywood for many years, ever since there was an unspoken ban on Pakistani artists after the 2016 Uri attacksAfter the attacks Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) took a resolution no collaboration with Pakistani talent.
However, in spite of all its controversies, Abir Gulaal remains among the best single-actor movies in India by the end of this year, and the people are dying to see Fawad Khan back in Bollywood.
