The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is set to address petitions challenging the intra-party elections of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on December 8. The eleven petitioners, including PTI founding member Akbar S Babar, have raised Concerns about the party’s internal Electoral processes. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan recently replaced incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan as the new Chairman through an unopposed election held under ECP directives.
The decision to Challenge the intra-party Election was made by Akbar S Babar who expressed his desire to participate but claimed that the party’s secretariat staff informed him that essential documents, including Nomination Papers, voter lists, and election rules, were nonexistent.
PTI’s intra-party Polls took Place as ordered by the ECP with Voters utilizing an Online app for Voting. It was Previously announced that Imran Khan would not Contest the intra-party polls and Barrister Gohar Khan was Nominated for the Position of Party Chief.

In a Parallel Development the ECP has initiated contempt Proceedings against Imran Khan and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry. The Proceedings Scheduled to Commence on December 13 at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail were Confirmed by the election Commission. The interior ministry has been Directed to make necessary arrangements within two days and Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry are expected to be indicted during the upcoming Hearing.
