Bangladesh Simplifies Visa Process for Pakistanis to Boost Trade and Economic Ties

Speaking to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hussain, made the declaration. He also drew attention to the fact that trade could be rapidly expanded as Bangladesh has a population of 180m customers for Pakistani products.

The new interim government under the Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus has removed the necessary condition that Pakistani visa to heads of missions must have clearance from Dhaka. Mr. Hussain specifically called for expanding bilateral business and cooperation, especially in terms of rejuvenating the SAARC.

LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad said that in the fiscal year 2023-24 the trade was $718 million and highlighted the prospect of their enhancement. Mr. Hussain also underlined the need to advance beyond the regional issues and to build beneficial cooperation in the spheres of the economy.

This development also speaks volumes of the government of Bangladesh’s commitment to enhancing the quality and predictability of Economic Relations in the region.
