Pakistan’s Babar Azam broke the record first set by Indian legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the second one-day international match on Thursday at Newlands while leading Pakistan to a comfortable 81-run win over the hosts.
In the first of the two teams to bat, Pakistan proved a mighty force as they scrambled 329 for all out from their innings, with a major contribution from Mohammad Rizwan, 80, and Kamran Ghulam, 63. Babar Azam compiled a well-constructed 73 and broke Dhoni’s previous record of 38 fifty-plus scores against SENA nations improving it to 39. The achievement takes Babar’s tally to cross over 14000 runs across all formats and 31 centuries to his name.
This victory was done by Shaheen Shah Afridi who bowled out really well while Heinrich Klaasen scored a fighting 97. Pakistan to a 2-0 lead in the three-match series as South Africa were bowled out for 248 in 43.1 overs. The last match of the series has been set for Sunday in Johannesburg, and Pakistan has already booked its place in the series.
