Asif Zardari Declares PPP’s Solo Flight in 2024 Elections, Rejects Seat Adjustments

Former President and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari categorically ruled out the possibility of seat adjustments with any Political Party in the Upcoming General elections in 2024. The announcement was made during a meeting with PPP’s Punjab leadership in Lahore where Zardari Emphasized that the PPP would independently Contest the Elections.

Asif Ali Zardari, during the meeting Highlighted that the PPP had been receiving numerous requests for Party tickets from various Constituencies. He Pledged to award tickets based on merit favoring the “strongest Candidate” in each case.

The Decision to refrain from Seat adjustments with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was Reportedly due to the Perceived drawbacks of such a Collaboration. PPP Sources argued that a seat adjustment with PML-N would be a “loss trade,” Suggesting that any failures during the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) tenure might negatively impact PML-N in the upcoming General Elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Recently issued the final constituency list, detailing the number of National Assembly (NA) and Provincial Assembly (PA) seats. The ECP’s Statement Highlighted the Conclusion of Special tribunals addressing 1,324 Objections to the Delimitations resulting in a total of 266 NA and 593 PA Seats.
