Alvi asks Imran to condemn 9 May violence

President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi asked PTI leader Imran Khan to condemn violent attacks that happened on 9 May after his arrest. The President said that attacks on public properties and military installations should not only be condemned but strict action should be taken.

He said, “Condemnation is important but it should be reiterated that things like these should not happen again”.

Private Letter to Chief of Army Staff

President Arif Alvi also wrote a private letter to Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan expressing his pain over the attacks on Corps Commander House, ISI offoce and the martyrs monument. He also said that PTI had no reservations on Gen Munir’s appointment as COAS.

In a recent recent interview, Arif Alvi also called for an independent inquiry into the matter saying that the nation awaits an independent investigation after every incident.

He condemned the “excesses committed by the police” against the protestors and cautioned that the world was looking at the human rights situation in Pakistan.

He also said that, Imran Khan and party is really not against COAS Asim Munir appointment. Imran Khan has no preferences against against any of Army leader or armed forces of Pakistan.

Talking about PDM, he said ‘A trust factor is missing, both sides should accept the first date agreed upon for elections‘.
