kesari chapter 2 akshay kumar tackles jallianwala aftermath
Dharma Productions launched their historical film Kesari Chapter 2 trailer on April 18, 2025 for public viewing. The movie shows the legal process British authorities faced when police killed defenseless Indians at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919.
Dharma Productions under Karan Johar employs Akshay Kumar to act as Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair in this project. At the start of the film the British authorities request Nair to appear in court for defamation but Nair experiences actions by these officials. The case arose when Nair made public details of British killings in Punjab regions.
The trailer, published on Thursday, reveals the brutal killing scene where British India Army soldiers shoot innocent people. The film opened a few days before the anniversary while Bob Blackman asked UK government officials to pay attention to their actions in Punjab region.
In the movie, R Madhavan plays the role of someone who defends British priorities as Ananya Panday appears as the legal advocate defending truth and justice. Kesari Chapter 2 takes its story from the book The Case that Shook the Empire by Raghu and Pushpa Palat.
On April 13, 1919, Brigadier General Reginald Dyer directed his troops to open fire on crowd members who gathered in peace at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. Data showing 350 to 1,200 people died points to the number of victims during this incident.
Historical dramas from Bollywood are becoming more common, yet audiences often criticize them for mistakes and for favoring one community over another. The films Chhaava, The Kashmir Files, and Padmaavat caused debates because they showed inaccurate depictions of historical facts and people.
