abbasi criticizes sanaullah’s warning to interior minister over nawaz’s arrest remarks
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, has disagreed with a statement made by his party colleague Rana Sanaullah. Sanaullah had warned the interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti, about the possible arrest of Nawaz Sharif when he returned to Pakistan.
In a talk show Abbasi said that Sanaullah is a sensible person but he should not have said something with multiple meanings. He was referring to Sanaullah’s reaction to Bugti’s earlier statement. In which Bugti had implied that Nawaz Sharif might be arrested upon his return unless he’s granted bail. Sanaullah criticized Bugti for making such a statement.
Abbasi also stressed that it’s not Bugti’s job to arrest someone; his main duty is to ensure that the law is followed. If there’s a court order for Nawaz Sharif’s arrest, it should be carried out, according to Abbasi.
Abbasi also commented on an interim Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar statement. Who suggested that fair elections could happen without Imran Khan’s participation due to his imprisonment. Abbasi thought the interim prime minister should remain neutral and focus on managing the country during the transitional period.
This isn’t the first time Abbasi has disagreed with statements from PML-N leaders. Recently, he criticized his own party’s performance, saying it didn’t take meaningful steps to address problems and couldn’t make quick decisions.
