Anmol acquittal plea: drug gang
The Anmol acquittal plea has been filed by Anmol alias Pinky in a narcotics case registered at the Counter Terrorism Department police station. The application argues that there is insufficient evidence to support the charges and has been submitted under Section 265-K of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Anmol Acquittal Plea Reaches Sessions Court
The sessions court has issued a notice to the Deputy Public Prosecutor and sought the prosecution’s response at the next hearing. The step reflects a structured judicial process in which both sides are heard before a decision is made.
Defence Arguments and Earlier Acquittals
Defence counsel Mir Hidayatullah argued that no solid evidence was available against the accused and requested her acquittal. He also informed the court that Anmol had already been acquitted in three drug-related cases registered at Gizri Police Station.
In August, the Additional District and Sessions Court (South) acquitted her in three narcotics cases registered in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The defence stated that she had been nominated on the basis of statements allegedly recorded by co-accused Ali and Fahmida, who were acquitted in 2024, and the court observed that the prosecution had failed to present sufficient evidence.
Evidence Standards in Narcotics Cases
Two alleged facilitators in the present case have reportedly gone into hiding after securing bail, and the development shows why courts continue to weigh evidence carefully, a principle that protects both the rights of the accused and public confidence in justice.
Strong evidence remains central to successful prosecutions, which is why chemical testing in Pakistan matters in providing scientific findings to courts, also, law enforcement agencies have also secured notable results, including a police operation that busted a drug gang in Punjab universities, while cross-border vigilance led to the seizure of narcotics hidden in a goods container in Malaysia. Growing Pakistan-Malaysia cooperation on security and law enforcement can further strengthen such efforts.
