Pakistan Launches Passport Home Delivery Service: Delivery Charges, Eligibility Rules and How Applicants Can Apply

Pakistan passport home delivery

Pakistan has taken another step towards improving public services by launching the Pakistan passport home delivery service, allowing citizens to receive their passports conveniently at their doorstep. The new initiative ‘Passport Aapki Dehleez Par’ (Passport at Your Doorstep) is a joint venture of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) and TCS to make the collection of passports easier and more efficient.

More Convenience With Passport Home Delivery Service

In the past, when processing was completed, passport applicants had to come back to the regional passport offices to pick up their travel documents. The new home delivery service removes that extra step by allowing the passports to be sent securely through TCS once the printing process is completed.

The DGIP continues to process applications, verify and print passports under its existing procedures. Once the document is ready, it is safely transferred to the courier partner for the last delivery to the address selected by the applicant. The step is likely to save applicants precious time and cut down on congestion at passport offices, particularly in large cities with high daily volumes of applications.

Who Is Eligible For The New Passport Delivery Service?

A big advantage of the new system is that it has broad eligibility. If you are a Pakistani citizen applying for a new passport or renewal of your existing passport, you can choose the home delivery option during the application process.

This service is available to those applying for a new passport, renewing an expired passport or replacing a passport under normal application procedures. The government aims to improve the customer experience by ensuring wider availability of the facility without changing the existing process of passport issuance.

How It Works For You

The application process is largely unchanged with the addition of one more submission option. While filling out the passport application, applicants can choose the home delivery service instead of selecting to collect the passport from a passport office. The applicant states a preferred delivery address during the application process, which can be a work or home address.

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports prepares the travel document after verification and passport production and hands it over to TCS for secure transportation. The courier then delivers the passport straight to the registered address, saving extra travel and wait times.

Digital Payments Stay Mandatory

The scheme of home delivery of passports is also in line with Pakistan’s growing focus on digital financial transactions.

The passport processing fee and delivery charge cannot be paid in cash by the applicants. All the applicable fees must be paid through the officially approved digital payment channels before submitting the passport application.

The cashless system is intended to create more transparency in financial matters and to simplify the administrative process for both applicants and government departments. Applicants are therefore advised to make all necessary payments before visiting the passport office or submitting the application through approved channels.

Fast-Track Passport Service Still Available

Citizens who need urgent travel documents can still access the government’s fast-track passport service. Those who choose urgent processing can get their passports in as little as 24 hours, provided they meet eligibility and verification success requirements.

The fast-track processing and doorstep delivery provide additional convenience to people with urgent travel commitments, business visits or emergencies. The coexistence of both services indicates ongoing efforts to modernise Pakistan’s passport issuance system while ensuring security standards.

Understanding The Delivery Costs

The home delivery fee for a passport has been described by the government as a nominal fee. The exact figure can vary according to a number of factors, including the location of the applicant, the distance of delivery and whether the application is under the standard or fast-track category. Applicants who choose to use the delivery service will be informed of the relevant delivery fees at the time of application.

Transport costs can vary from region to region, and the final amount will be confirmed by the relevant passport office or courier partner at the time of choosing the delivery option. This additional fee is meant only to cover secure courier services while being affordable for applicants across the country.

Benefits For People Across Pakistan

There are many practical advantages for applicants in having their passport delivered to their doorstep.

This means no more having to make an extra visit to the busy passport offices after the issuance of their documents for citizens living in the bustling metropolitan areas. Applicants from far-flung districts will also gain from lower travel expenses and less time spent travelling to and from.

The new service will be of particular benefit to families, the elderly and those with demanding work schedules, with passports being delivered to the address of their choice. The move is also in line with Pakistan’s wider digital transformation agenda, which will bring together online payments, smooth processing and secure logistics under one service.

A Step In The Right Direction Towards Modern Public Service

The launch of Passport Aapki Dehleez Par is another milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to enhance citizen-oriented government services.

The initiative offers a good trade-off between convenience and document security by collaborating with an established courier network and putting in place secure passport processing procedures through the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
