Karachi Warms Up While Snow and Storm Alerts Sweep the North

Karachi

With the southern part of Pakistan getting a little warmer than the winter, Karachi gets a little relief and provides the people with a feeling of relief despite the rest of the country being overwhelmed by extreme weather notices. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that the city had reached a low of 17°C and the temperature was likely to reach somewhere near 30°C during the day. The weather pattern of Karachi is still influenced by light northeasterly winds and high levels of humidity, whereas air quality is an issue since Karachi has unhealthy levels of pollution.

As Karachi is getting warmer, northern and western areas are getting ready to receive a drastic difference. The mountainous parts of the country, such as Kaghan, Swat, Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, are likely to receive snowfall in the next 24 hours. Rain with strong winds and thunderstorms may also be observed in several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Due to its elevated altitude, the areas in Balochistan are expected to experience rain and snow, which will heighten the chances of travel delays.

Weather Divide Highlights Pakistan’s Seasonal Extremes

The most recent prediction points to the severe climatic contrast between Pakistan, with Karachi becoming warmer under milder winter conditions, and snowstorms and rains accumulating in a large part of the north. Governments have cautioned people in the affected areas to be wary of the ever-unpredictable weather conditions that have been affecting their day-to-day livelihood.
