Pakistan receives $700 million tech investment in digital forum

Pakistan retires its stature as a global technology hub. It pulls in foreign investments of about $700 million by holding a Digital Foreign Direct Investment (DFDI) Forum jointly designated in Islamabad on April 29-30, 2025.

Co-hosted by Pakistan and the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), the event received more than 400 delegates from over 30 countries to welcome more than 200 IT and telecom companies such as Russoft, sAi Venture Capital, Mashreq Bank, and Mindhyve.ai.

Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister, stated that the country was now an emerging digital service provider with a core skill in youth, which he considered fundamentally important for the economy. “With a young, tech-savvy population, Pakistan is ready to offer world-class digital services globally,” said Dar.

He noted how Pakistan ranked among the top 10 countries for online presence, with its 140 million internet users and 73 million smartphone users. The country is poised to take over the presidency of the DCO, further showing its commitment to digital transformation.

Calling it “transformational,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized efforts to skills the youth digitally through the DFDI Forum when he expressed reaffirmed assistance from the government towards creating strong infrastructure for digitization and creating partnerships with industry of technology worldwide.
